Colours of 2017

After years of numerous studies on colours and their effects to human and their behaviour, there are a stream of schools in colour-related psychologies and concepts.

Some may have heard of colour theraphy or concepts of holistic healing using colours, while some may be exposed to colour ideologies based on the luck effects they bring to human lives. On commercial front, companies use colours to promote the sales and marketing of certain products or range of services based on the colours that may induce such tendency to make purchases or subscriptions due to the effects from the colours.

In 2017, Home and Office Owners may take effort to consider enhancing and harnessing the balanced energies in their premises by the recommendation of colours for the year.

The energies of the year 2017 is skewed towards heavyweight metal and much of the anxiety of the year will be due to the reaction caused by the metal element. At some point, the events are deemed to be reflecting a heated piece of metal, denoting a clash; creating undesirable outcome for the year.

As turbulences and chaos are not welcomed in homes and offices, it is recommended that a certain wall of the dwelling and premises be painted with shades of BLUE and GREEN for 2017. These include shades of Emerald, Turqoise, Navy, Indigo, Lime, Mint and Teal.

While the preferred popular colours of properties in Malaysia remain with range of shades in White, Grayish, Silverish, Beige and Earthy colours, these may be of no help in promoting balance in energies in 2017. These include shades of Yellow, Cream, Brown, Orange, Gold, Bronze, and Metallic. Popular yes, helpful maybe not so.

How about the shades of Red; some may ask. The strength of the fire red is moderately strong in balancing itself this year and may not need to be strengthen further. Should there are some walls in the house or office already painted with the shades of Red, it may just remain status quo.

The harmony shades of BLUE and GREEN will be good especially for those who are sensitive to colour treatment in their homes and offices.

One of the ways to enhance this balancing energy will be combining the two colours. A feature wall or two of these; for instance, will certainly bring forth positive equillibrium to the dwellings and properties in order to enhance health, wealth and interpersonal relationships.

Example of European Mesh with combination of 2-3 shades of Blue, Green or Turquoise.

With that, may the year 2017 brings joy, harmony, happiness, good health and productivity in all homes and premises of Malaysia.

Choose Wisely

Today's topic touches on a few issues pertaining to the selection of Painting Service Providers in Malaysia or particularly Klang Valley. Practically, many Painting Service Providers (let's call them PSPs) in this KL and Selangor area are faced with stiff competition with each others due to the taste of the end users in the market.

As many of our clients had been through some fair share of experiences with the PSPs, we will put up some examples to our best knowledge of the painting industry in KL and Selangor (Klang Valley).

Here are a few examples of PSPs:-
1) Professional A - this type has good quality, uses highly skilled workers, choose their jobs and doesnt come in cheap. Give value-added advise and with in-depth expertise in solving client's issues. You pay what you get. Some groups may consist of local painters. Few in the market.

2) Professional B - this type has good quality, uses fairly good workers, with competitive pricing. Can be a mix of local and foreign workers. May or may not have value-added services. Some in the market.

3) Contractor A - this type paint to what is required no more no less. Uses mixed workers. Pricing range based on contractor's rule of thumb. Usually around market range. Quality depending. Plenty in the market.

4) Contractor B - this type paints so so. Uses mixed workers. Pricing range can be cheaper than market. Quality and painting services is around to below market range. Plenty in the market.

5) Contractor C - this type paints for the sake of painting. May not have value. Price can be dirt cheap. Quality and services questionable. May have issues in the end. Some target quick hits and victimise clients. Plenty in the market.

6) Direct Worker Group A - They work as professional teams before. Quality and services management lacking. Value added depending. May asks for premium pay. Some in the market.

7) Direct Worker Group B - Normal painters. Just cari makan type. May or may not understand quality and services concept. No value added. Cheap wages. Plenty in the market.

8) Direct Worker Group C - Amateur painters. Just started to be in industry. No value in quality and services. Dirt cheap wages. May have issues in the end. Some target quick hits and victimise clients. Plenty in the market.

Now to be fair to fellow industry players, some of them can be even way better than this range. Some in betweens and there are some even worse than the worst of the above. So there is no fast rule in determining the class of PSPs in the market.

Now how to select wisely when the range of painting a apartment/condo can be of RM500 to RM5000? The bigger the house or offices the bigger the range. Some big houses/offices can have a range of as cheap as RM3000 up to RM30,000 to paint.

Here's the wise things to do.

1) Get in touch with the painting service providers (PSPs) and ask them what you need to ask.
Here you may see if they are the experts, the professionals, the contractors or the workers type.

2) Provide them with all the info of your requirements and data of premises to ask for official quotation.

3) As you work with one or two that may suit your taste and level of quality and service, the usual way is to get the more affordable one. If the one that you like a lot is not meeting your budget, ask for some rebate or discount. Let them offer the price to a level they do not start to revise the quality and service level that they intend to give to you.

4) Most importantly, get the one that you know and trust will meet your expectations in everything, not just pricing. This is where PSPs like Contractor C and Direct Worker Group C always take advantage when they put up the cheap bait. Penny wise pound foolish is not a good way forward.

5) You may consider to buy your own paint if you know really well what to buy or how this separation of scopes will cost you. Some contractors took advantage on this as well. Genuine PSPs will buy the paint on behalf with a little mark up to cover the logistical services.

6) Another way to track how good are the PSPs is from the clear confirmation and professional documentations that they provide. The written scopes and paint colors with clear payment terms in black and white will ensure no twist and turns (which is classic) by unethical contractors.

We hope that the above helps a lot of clients who may one day going through the process of choosing the righ Painting Service Providers.

Painting a Feature Wall for your home or office in Malaysia

Quite alot of time, many of the home owners in Malaysia would like to have something different when it comes to painting a wall.

As the word "Feature" suggests, these type of products are decorative paints with designed strokes of layers when painted that can bring out special effects to a particular wall.

These products can now be easily available from alot of painting or hardware shops.

There are a few popular ones in the Malaysian market and many projects had taken up these decorative designs quite well.

Let's explore a few of them in no particular order....

1. SANCORA PAINT
A beatiful product of Italian-styled decorative paint. No doubt this product had been painted in alot of homes by us as one of the most favourable choices that is available in the market. Here are some of the pages from Sancora advertorial.

2. NIPPON MOMENTO
There is a another elegant series of paint for feature walls by Nippon called the Momento. It had made its mark in the Malaysian painting industry with quite a storm; seriously. The marketing for the Nippon Momento had indeed crafted some ideas in the head of alot of home owners.

3. DULUX AMBIANCE
New and start getting attention. This series of feature wall painting may be new but the special effects are really interesting and well-thought of. The sense of personalization is strongly present when we look at the series of products offered.

Of course there are many other feature wall painting products and brands out there and we are not surprised if home owners are spoilt with so many available choices. Wisdom in selecting the suitable effects and wall finishes to match the whole interior designing concept in tasteful manner is hence, very vital and necessary.

Lucky Colours To Paint Your Home in 2016

Now is the time when everyone starts to plan for the New Year of 2016 and practically preparing the homes for the Chinese New Year of 2016. One of the most popular home preparation activities that families in Malaysia shares annually is perhaps the house painting.

So what is the Lucky Colours of the Chinese Calendar Year of 2016 Bing Shen (Fire Monkey) which will balance the luck of the household by colours energy balance?

Generally for Year of 2016 Fire Monkey, the lucky colours for the year will be red and shades of orange.

Suggestions from VPaint : Since these colours are quite sharp in nature, we suggest only certain wall in your home be selected as feature wall for these colours. One or two walls with such colours will be sufficient to bring about positive vibes that will suit the year's element balance.

Suggestion areas for red and shades of orange will usually be dining and kitchen area. Perhaps one of the walls leading to this areas can be painted with such colours.

Now many people will be wondering whether do they need to match the colours to their own personal lucky home colours.

If you do not wish to match the painting colours to the Annual elements; which may need you to change the feature wall colour every year (which; to some people always practise), you may use what we call the personal lucky home colours.

Living in the homes where the colours balance with your personal major element will bring about balance, and stability which eventually lead to more steady stream of energy. Needless to say, these will enable windows of wealth, health and better relationship to open effortlessly.

Here is the colour suggestions to your personal home colours.

1) If you are born after 8 August (inclusive) throughout the winter up to 5 March, it means that your element are quite cold and yin in nature. We usually name them "winter people". As such, your homes should have shades of red, orange, turquoise, green, and purple/violet. These will warm the cold and yin energy that you have. These colours are apparently matching the 2016 Fire Monkey colours as well. By having these colours, it is more practical should you want to maintain your home colours for a few years.

2) If you are born after 6 March (inclusive) throughtout the summer up to 7 August, then your elements are considered quite warm and yang in nature. In this sense, we name them the "summer people". Then the homes of summer people should have shades of black, blue, grey, white, gold and silver. This again will balance up the heat of people born around summer time. Dont worry too much if you find that these colours do not match with the yearly lucky colours as they serve as good element balance for your personal elements. It is suggested that these colours be applied to personal reading room, bedroom and home office to bring about calm flow of energy balance.

If you wish to repaint the house for the new year, and would just like some shades of neutral colours, then normally other shades of creamy white, beige and very light brown will do the job.

So here you are; the lucky colours for the year 2016 Fire Monkey2. :)

Wishing you all Happy New Year.

Happy Painting.

Cracking the head to find a good painting services contractor

Home and offices painting are seen to be an easy DIY work that perhaps many people (including most of the people we know) thought that they could do a very fair standard finish that may awe the family members and guests after of course some backaches and neck pains...
There are some people who are really good when it comes to DIY painting works in homes and offices while some may paint a few walls and realize soon after that it is better to pay someone who are living off the painting skills whom we all known as the painters...."professional" some call themselves; to do the job.

Now the question is "where to find a good painter"?

Before that.....

Many claims to have the experiences, workmanship, quality and all that we need to paint the desired areas with the desired outcome but over the years of being in the market, we often hear complaints of victimized customers who just simply wanted their home to look nicer in some new coats of paint. Not to mention, some of the victim i know is from the same project/construction/building industry who maybe are not familiar with the good batch of painters in the market.

Nowadays, some contractors may have the experiences, workmanship and quality as they claimed and with benefit of doubt, assuming that they do; there are still some cases where home owners are being taken for a ride for works not well done, not fully done, not covered under original agreed scopes, hidden issues not mentioned to them and being backslashed by extra claims only LATER of the painting services project, untimely delivery, and multiple issues that this page cannot even afford to contain....we should have figured.

Why is that so? First contractors blamed the owner for stingy and finding excuses for not paying full; if they pay at all in some cases. When we hear it from the owner, they said that the contractors are not being honest and has attitude when dealing with the painting projects.

It is a mistrust and sometimes misunderstanding issue that is currently happening in the market.

Here are a few pointers to finding a good painter:-
1) They take interest to understand your need, your house/office condition and give you a comprehensive full report on the condition of your house/office....nothing should be hidden from your knowledge.
2) They explain to you, whether or not you want to know, on how to resolve the issues in the areas you want to paint in your house or office. At this point, it is good to understand if their experiences will come in handy to solve your home/office problems with the best effort, best solution at the best price.
3) What they promise, they deliver. Although we are all human, you will find that a good painter or any contractor for that matter will have the tendency to try their very best in fulfilling what they promise to you, in terms of delivery time, manner of delivery and integrity of services.
If you had been dealing with alot of contractors before, you can immediately tell the differences from a good painter from a "cincai" one.
4) You will find that they prioritize your home painting performance results more than the money that you will agree to pay them. Their concern is more to providing you a good finishing than the price of the services.
5) They make sure that you are fully satisfied in the painting works that they had done for you and always willing to serve you when you need them rather than eagerly wanting to leave the job as fast as possible after completing the job.
6) They somehow did a little extra for you with or without you knowing it.

But the owner may be asking, "how do i know they have these qualities?"
Answer: Meet with them during the job evaluation (before start work) to understand more about the work.

With the above, good luck in searching for your right painter for your lovely home/offices.
